I work. I have been there long enough to have a good grip on the personalities I work with, but not quite long enough to have passed the boundary of being "new" at the job. This is work which has an annual cycle rather than a monthly cycle. This means that it will be a year before I have learnt all the details and minutae involved with what I do. My previous position was a monthly cycle. If you could survive one cycle, you pretty much knew what needed to be done.
I've been trying to figure out why one of the managers in my area seems to dislike me. My theories have ranged across all sorts of reasons - both logical and paranoid.
